Molecular differences between NASH-related HCC and other aetiologies
HCC exhibits diverse aetiologies, with NASH-related and non-NASH-related cases presenting distinct characteristics. NASH-related HCC, linked to obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome, accounts for ~10% of global cases, rising to ~20% in Western countries, with a male-to-female ratio of 1:2:1. In contrast, non-NASH-related HCC represents approximately 90% of cases globally and 80% in the West, with a male-to-female ratio of 2:3:1.1
