UNDERSTANDING RECURRENT VAGINAL YEAST INFECTIONS
Characterised by the repeated occurrence of yeast infections caused primarily by the Candida species, recurrent vaginal yeast infections are also known as recurrent vaginal candidiasis. While occasional yeast infections are common, recurrent vaginal candidiasis occurs when there are three or more instances within a year. Factors contributing to recurrent vaginal candidiasis include changes in hormonal levels, compromised immune systems, and antibiotic use.1,2
