Venlafaxine is a second-generation antidepressant and belongs to a class of antidepressants known as serotonin-noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs).1,3-7
Venlafaxine extended release (XR) is approved for the treatment of major depressive disorders (MDD)5,6 (including depression with associated anxiety).4 The efficacy of venlafaxine XR as a treatment for major depressive episodes has been demonstrated in several clinical studies.5,6 Results from studies also showed that venlafaxine XR significantly improved symptoms of depression in MDD patients with comorbid anxiety.8
