Pharmacists gathered in force at the annual Pharmacy Show
Held at Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg last month, The Pharmacy Show 2024 saw the Independent Community Pharmacy Association (ICPA) and the South African Association of Community Pharmacists (SAACP) join forces to host a series of speakers during a Pharmacy United symposium.
Addressing delegates during the opening Johannes Ravele (President of SAACP) said the ICPA and SAACP were united to further the ideals of community pharmacists. “Unity is strength and when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved. Gone are the days of individualism or us vs them, today we are united, standing together for the profession.
“The theme of the Pharmacy Show is Pharmacy United, pharmacy collaboration, spreading knowledge for a united independent community pharmacy. We join forces to share innovations and ideas that will not only lead to the growth of our industry but edifies us as individuals so that we impact the communities we serve in for better health outcomes and cost effectiveness. The prevailing unity will surely go a long way in ensuring that the status of a pharmacist and community pharmacy is elevated to heights that have not been reached before.”
Access to healthcare, regulatory challenges, pharmacy work force, professional development, and the digitalisation of pharmacy were discussed in depth over the two-day symposium.
