SCREENING
Early detection of DKD offers the opportunity to delay complications and kidney failure through appropriate therapeutic interventions and screening of high-risk individuals. DKD is characterised by signs of damage or loss of kidney function lasting more than three months, including:
- Presence of albuminuria/proteinuria.
- Abnormal urine sediments (e.g., white or red blood cells).
- Abnormalities observed through imaging or biopsy.1
