WHO DOES IT AFFECT?
Gout most commonly starts in a person’s 40s to 60s, although it can start earlier with a genetic predisposition and can occur for the first time when someone is in their 80s. Men are more likely to develop gout than women, with the male to female ratio being 9:1. Gout is rare in women until menopause.
